We have been receiving numerous phone calls from individuals who were referred to us to help them pay their past due rent or mortgage. AHF is a HUD approved Housing Counseling Agency that can help you with working on a crisis budget should you experience a crisis such as job loss or death of a loved one. What is a crisis budget? A crisis budget identifies essential items, focusing on needs and removing wants. It’s created by categorizing items and considering reduced income scenarios. While this does not address your issue of needing cash, it will help you streamline what income you do have to utilize it for the essentials to help you get through your crisis.
We also offer a Responsible Renters Class the first Thursday of every month that helps renters understand the renting process, how to read a lease, tenant/landlord law, why credit is important and how it is scored, how to inspect your apartment when moving in and moving out and much more valuable information and is presented by Florida Rural Legal Services, University of Florida, Local Realtors and Affordable Homeownership Foundation.
